Recently I have become interested in essential oils, and their growing popularity. What started as a desire to make my apartment smell yummy (total candle addict here!) lead to some online research into the concept and a quick Barnes and Noble trip to pick up a handy little guide. While I was reading through the introduction and basic of what essential oils are and how they work, I realized how helpful it would be to have a quick reference for the information. Enter the ever useful bullet journal!! 🙂 This was my first foray into note-taking in the bullet journal; up until this point I had only been using my bullet journal for task management and list making.
My guide book into the world was ” Essential Oils Natural Remedies: The Complete A-Z Reference of Essential Oils for Health and Healing” published in 2015. I haven’t made it all the way through the book yet, but as a beginner I find it a nice starting point. There are a few chapters on essential oils: what they are, how they work, and how they can be used. The major bulk of the book is divided into 2 sections: different problems and how oils can help them, and different oils and what uses they have. Needless to say there is a lot of important information covered in 400 plus pages.
**Please note this marks my first foray into essential oils, so if there are any other guides out there please let me know!! I would love to know more.**
My Essential Oils 101 guide is the perfect quick reference for me as I continue to learn more. It includes definitions, do’s and dont’s, and other useful guides. Next up will be a listing of the oils I most want to try and what they can be used for. I haven’t gotten that listing started yet, but can’t wait.
Like I mentioned earlier, this was my first journey into actual note-taking in the bullet journal. It’s useful in that I almost always carry my bullet journal with me, and my Moleskine notebook is much smaller than the 400 pages of the guide. Also, I have always found that writing information and putting it into your own words is a great way to really retain what you are reading.
As my first note-taking in the bullet journal, I really enjoyed it and have to admit that it satisfied the small part of me that misses school and note-taking. As I continue to learn more about essential oils I will certainly be adding to this, and look forward to repeating this with some other topics I am looking into.
